Frequently asked questions.
Why do I constantly have a stiff neck?
Not using the right pillow, holding your phone at the wrong angle or having your computer screen at the wrong height for your eye level can all contribute to having a stiff and sore neck. Getting regular adjustments can help with your neck pain, along with chiropractic recommendations for preventative measures.
Why do I have pain between my shoulder blades?
Sitting at your desk, carrying young children or groceries, cooking, playing piano…everyday activities that bring the arms forward can shorten the chest muscles and strain/weaken the muscles in-between the shoulder blades. If you repeatedly experience this pain, it could be that you are suffering from Postural Syndrome.
Massage and stretching can help but if not, try a chiropractic adjustment!
Why does my back go out when I haven’t done anything to hurt it?
"But I haven't done anything to hurt my low back! I don't understand why it's so sore!" As chiropractors treating back pain, we hear this lament almost on a daily basis. It may seem as if you haven’t done anything to trigger back pain but of course there is a root cause. It could be that you have spent too much time sitting at the computer, or that you’ve travelled a long distance in the car. Even watching a marathon of shows on television can hurt your back.
The advice we give to patients is a) get an adjustment and b) go for a 20 minute walk once a day, both of which will alleviate the pain.
What is runner’s knee?
Runner’s knee results from a combination of various factors including wearing the wrong shoes, having overly tight hamstrings or from having a weak VMO muscle (one of the four muscles that make up your quadriceps). It is experienced as a dull pain at the front of the knee, worsened when going up or down stairs.
Chiropractic treatment can help manage this condition through adjusting the patella, muscle release techniques, massage, dry needling and strengthening exercises.
