I regularly prescribe the ankle alphabet to patients to assist in;
1) prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) on long haul flights where mobility is limited.
2) as an active range of motion exercise to help rehabilitate an ankle post injury.
This exercise is particularly effective as there is a start and a finish….. 26 letters to complete. And if you are really enthusiastic, you can follow up the exercise with 26 UPPER case letters.
